Bob's Retail Enterprises LLC is the management company behind Bob's Adult Bookstore, serving Salem since 1975. We handle the operations, compliance, buying and people side of specialty retail so that the stores themselves can concentrate on the people who walk through the door.
What we do
We are an operating company, not an investor. The work is unglamorous and it is the whole job.
Operations
Staffing, scheduling, payroll, point-of-sale, inventory, facilities and the daily rhythm of keeping a store open 365 days a year.
Compliance and licensing
Employment law, record-keeping, local licensing and the specific regulatory load that comes with age-restricted retail. We would rather be early than explain ourselves later.
Buying and vendor relationships
Purchasing, distributor relationships and merchandising across our brands, run centrally so vendors have one place to call.

A fifty-year-old business, under new management
The store we operate opened in Salem in 1975 and has traded continuously ever since, under a short chain of owners. The current company took over operations on April 1, 2025. Much of what we have done since has been ordinary and overdue: modern point-of-sale, real inventory, proper payroll, written policies, a staff handbook, paid holidays.
We mention it because it explains how we work. We inherited a business that had been run on habit, and we are rebuilding it on process, without losing what made people loyal to it for fifty years. More about the company.
